What is Astrology?

Study of Astrology is an ocean and I am trying to give you only an idea of it through this short article to make you aware of this Science and it’s scope in our life.

Astrology is an amazing combination of Astronomy and Mathematics. It is bas

The first seven planets exist in the solar system, but Rahu and Ketu are not physical planets rather these are mathematically calculated sensitive points. Let us understand Rahu and Ketu. In fact, there is an Equator who divides our Earth into two equal parts viz., Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere. Another division of earth is by apparent path of Sun around the Earth, which is called Ecliptic. The intersection of these two paths i.e., Equator and Ecliptic are also known as two Nodes or Rahu and Ketu. On ascension, this intersection is called Rahu and exactly 180 degree opposite intersection, at declination is called Ketu. As per observations of our sages, these two nodes i.e., Rahu and Ketu have great influence on our lives.

Our Sages, on the basis of their observations, divided all the activities of human beings into 12 parts and thus formed a Chart having 12 divisions (houses). Each house is represented by a sign and make them 12 in number i.e. Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces. Even nature and traits of each sign are defined.

The characteristics and roles of each planet are defined. One or the other planet represents all animate and inanimate bodies. For example, Sun represents Father; Moon is mother; Jupiter is teacher; Venus is wife or all females; Saturn is all labour class.

Likewise, all the 12 houses are defined and represent one or the other activity of our life. For example, First House represents our Self; Second House tells us about our family or wealth; Seventh House is Spouse and married life; Tenth House depicts our career and profession.

As we work in an organization and there is always a hierarchy of people working there for smooth running of organization, these nine planets work in the office of our life and rule for different periods on different positions to influence (positive or negative) activities of our life with their energies. The order and the period of rule of each planet is defined and in astrological terms called Dasha. For example, at the time of our birth, it is mathematically calculated that which planets are ruling and from that point, different planets rule in the defined order and for defined period.

Our birth takes place when there is a harmony between our past actions and the position of planets, to carry out the assigned task. The astrological chart is prepared on the basis of date, time and place of birth, which depicts the location of signs and planets in the 12 houses of the Chart.
